She was married to a Landreth who was miswritten as Sanders and miswritten as Landers and then mn as Landreth which in old times was sometimes written Landers. The old S and the old L looked a lot alike too. Yes, confusing! From Stephen Phipps' Blog Posted on December 22, 2013 WikiTree contains a page on Charlotta (Long) Phipps. Although not all information on that page is accompanied by primary source documentation, it appears that she is said to have been born about 1820 in Virginia, a daughter of Samuel and Mary (Cornett) Long. She is said to have 2nd married David Cox Phipps in 1853 in Pike County, Kentucky. According to David’s linked page in the same site, he was born in 1810 in Ashe County and was a son of John and Mary (Cox) Phipps. That page says that he also married Dorcas Ordella Stamper. Other unverified secondary sources, however, claim that he married Charlotte Landreth, The divorce, however, of David C. Phipps of Grayson County, Virginia from Dorcas Stamper is a matter of highly visible public record, since the matter was handled by a legislative act of the Virginia General Assembly on 19 Jan 1846. Parents Samuel Long and Mary aka Molly Cornett/Canute/Schnute The name Cornett is very common in the Grayson Cty Va area of the Phipps/Longs/Landreths. Canute is thought to be a form of Cornett. Schnute is not a name from this area and is a suspected error in writing Married 1 Mr Landreth (had 2 kids)(widowed) 2 David C Phipps as 2nd wife. FROM JANEEN PROCTOR Charlotte was Charlotte Landreth in her father's will in 1842, but we can not find the Landreth that Charlotte Long was married to yet . He was Henry Arthur Landerth I found her on a census after Mr. Landreth died and it was transcribed as Charlotte Landers in one place and Charlotte Sanders in another, but she had her two children Harvey and Amanda from her marriage to Landreth and David Phipps was listed with her as a farm hand. Harvey Arthur LANDRETH Jr Find A Grave Memorial# 81160870 FROM DIANE KAMPHAUS I have a Harvey Arthur Landreth b: 25 Dec 1840 Grayson, Carroll, VA with his mother a Charlotte Long and father Landreth, possibly Harry. Harvey's tombstone reads: Harvey S. Landreth 25 Dec 1840 2 Apr 1912 He is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Axtell, Marshall, KS, USA also with his wife Sarah Elizabeth Bailey. I have a picture of the tombstone if anybody wants me to e-mail. It has also been told to me that Harvey and his sister were kidnapped by his uncle and aunt after their father died. It was said that it was uncle Joel and aunt Charlotte Long which would leave me to believe that it was Charlotte's brother that did this. I am not sure about the truth of this, but apparently Joel wrote a letter to Harvey telling him what he did before he died while Harvey was in the service. (IOWA INFANTRY) NOTE FROM RESEARCHER VALERIE NEAL I am not sure how true it is about Amanda Jane Landreth being kidnapped by the Uncle, because she was in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 Census records living with her mom and David Phipps. Maybe Harvey was, but not Amanda. I have seen some accounts he was taken to Iowa at age 9 and then joined the war in 1862. Supposedly his fathers name was William Henry "Harry" Landreth.
