Charlotte Marie Koehmstedt was born December 27, 1930 in Dresden, ND, the daughter of Linus and Agnes (Saumer) Koehmstedt. She was raised in the Langdon, ND area and graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in Langdon. Following their marriage,... Read More	Charlotte M. Ohlheiser, 86, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 4000 Valley Square-Woodside Village in Grand Forks. Charlotte Marie Koehmstedt was born December 27, 1930 in Dresden, ND, the daughter of Linus and Agnes (Saumer) Koehmstedt. She was raised in the Langdon, ND area and graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in Langdon. After high school, she acquired a teaching certificate and taught in Max, ND until she met and married Stanley Ohlheiser on November 28, 1950 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel, ND. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Mt. Carmel and Edmore area until moving to Grand Forks in 1961. Although she was primarily a homemaker, caring for her family, Charlotte was the first woman to be employed by the Grand Forks Post Office. She enjoyed crafts, especially stamping and card making, and her artful creations provided encouragement to many people. Stanley preceded her in death on June 29, 1995. Following her husband's death, Charlotte frequently traveled to visit her children and grandchildren as well as traveling around the US and abroad to Europe and the Holy Land. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and loved her Friday Soup Group. She is survived by her sons, Kirk (Holly) Bismarck, ND, Ken, Fort Collins, CO, Todd (Julie) Lafayette, CO, Wayne, Milwaukee, WI; daughters, Kaye (Gene) Brueckner, Kerry (Tim) Nikle, Shelly Huff, all of Grand Forks, ND, Karla (Bill) Gallagher, Salem, NH; a sister-in-law, Olivia (Mrs. Orlin) Koehmstedt, Stockton, CA; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley; brothers, Richard, Floyd, and Orlin. Charlotte's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Hope Evangelical Covenant Church, designated to Compassion International Ministries, or to Valley Memorial Homes of Grand Forks, ND. All of the staff at Woodside Village were like family to Mom these past 6 years and we are truly grateful for the excellent care and genuine love shown to her, especially by the caregivers of Oakcrest Neighborhood. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017 in Hope Evangelical Covenant Church, 1601 17th Avenue South, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation: 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service in the Historic Norman- Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, 2950 S. Washington St, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service in the church on Thursday. Burial: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
