She was the daughter of Charles Nicklin and Maude Ella Harris Blodgett. Her parents moved to Broad Acres Farm in Bowdoinham in 1916. Billings, age 98 of Bowdoinham, died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Freeport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center She was born in Laconia, NH on November 13, 1913. She was the daughter of Charles Nicklin and Maude Ella Harris Blodgett. Her parents moved to Broad Acres Farm in Bowdoinham in 1916. She graduated from Coombs High School in 1931, and from Bay Path Institute, Springfield, MA in 1933. On June 25, 1938, she married Freeman P. Billings. He died on August 24, 1987. Charlotte did secretarial work at L.L. Clark Lumber Co. in Clarks Mills, and at Merrymeeting Farm in Bowdoinham. From 1954 to 1966, she worked for E. Andrew Peterson & Co. in Bowdoinham, and from 1967 to 1971, for G.H. Bass & Co. also in Bowdoinham. From 1972 to 1979, she worked at Brunswick Coal & Lumber Co. retiring at that time, but returned to work part time for many years. Mrs. Billings was Past Matron of Electa Chapter #2, O.E.S. of Bowdoinham and a member for many years. She was also a member of the Comfort Branch of the Sunshine Society, the Bowdoinham Extension, and a former member of the Merrymeeting Grange. She was also a member of the Mid Coast Regional Hospital Auxiliary, and did volunteer work in the coffee shop for many years. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a son, Kenneth; and two brothers, Raymond Blodgett and Charles Blodgett; and a nephew Paul Blodgett. Surviving are her son, Linwood Stephen and his wife, Susan of Brunswick; two grandchildren, Michael Scott Billings and Holly Ann Billings; three great grandchildren, Joseph Billings, Elsa Billings and Andrea Billings; three nephews, Lance Blodgett, Raymond Blodgett and his wife, Emily, Arthur Bouley and his wife, Bessie; and a niece, Joyce Morin and her husband, Roland. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick, where an Eastern Star service will be held at 10:30 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ron McLaughlin officiating. Burial will be at Bay View Cemetery in the spring. Condolences can be expressed at www.brackettfuneralhome.com.
