Description	:	Charlotte Wilma [Berg] Rorabaugh was born 14 Dec 1911, to Jacob & Flora [Kale] Berg, early settlers of Tuxedo, two miles east of the Nooksack River "Crossing" later named Everson. Her brother Percy (& Hortence/Helen), sisters Gladys (& Neel Berg), Loleta (& Allan Hart) and Hattie(& Phil Mades) were all born in the original house. The need for a larger house allowed Charlotte to claim that the house that still stands majestically at 3315 South Pass Road "was built for me!" Read More	Charlotte Wilma [Berg] Rorabaugh was born 14 Dec 1911, to Jacob & Flora [Kale] Berg, early settlers of Tuxedo, two miles east of the Nooksack River "Crossing" later named Everson. Her brother Percy (& Hortence/Helen), sisters Gladys (& Neel Berg), Loleta (& Allan Hart) and Hattie(& Phil Mades) were all born in the original house. The need for a larger house allowed Charlotte to claim that the house that still stands majestically at 3315 South Pass Road "was built for me!" Charlotte was in the first graduating class of the combined Everson-Sumas high schools, 1930, and was the oldest living graduate of the Nooksack Valley school system until her death on August 8, 2012, four months shy of 101 years of age. She then attended Metropolitan Business College in Seattle earning a 2-year certificate. She returned to the valley to work at both Nooksack Valley State Bank and Everson Bank in roles of book-keeper and teller, and then she worked for family at Kale Canning Co. She befriended a younger man from Colorado, employed by a sister's boyfriend, Phil (Mades Motor Service). She married this "best friend" Jim on May 1, 1946 and they continued this friendship for more than 47 years, until Jim's death in 1993. Charlotte is survived by 3 sons, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Charlotte loved her God and Savior who gave her gifts of friendship, hospitality and loyal service to many. As many of you experienced, Jim and Charlotte hosted many picnics, re-unions, missionaries, Boy Scouts from Africa, college school mates and sweethearts of their boys. "Friends" could be all who dropped by, attended their church, came for dinner, or ate produce from her kitchen and extensive garden. "O those gooey cinnamon rolls!" "Charlotte, you leave us with wonderful memories. You encouraged our spiritual formation. You exemplified grace. You served us well. Thank you."
