She spent her youth working and playing on her fathers homestead. On Apr. 17, 1866 in Jay County, Indiana, as Charlotte Young, married Elijah Kring of Westerville, Ohio. The son of Conrad and Catherine (Seidner) Kring, of Franklin County, OH. Elijah owned a small trek of land, but due to wounds suffered in the War, he was limited to how much work he could. With the help from friends and family, Charlotte was able to scratch out a living. The marriage of Charlotte and Elijah was blessed with five children, tree sons and two daughters; Catherine (1868-1940) Kokomo, IN. Caroline (1871-1923) Marion, IN. William (1877-1949) Kokomo, IN. Frank (1882-1964)Kokomo, IN. Edward (1888-1969) Peru, IN. On Sept. 9, 1934, in Kokomo, Indiana, Charlotte passed away after a short illness. Charlotte was laid to rest beside Elijah in Riverside Cemetery, Kokomo, Indiana.
