He reveled in memories of his upbringing on the rural Mill Street in Fortuna where he was raised with his six brother's and sisters. Read More	Chester Burke Reid Dec. 26, 1952- May 13, 2011 Chester Reid loved his family, baseball (go Giants!), deer hunting, wood working, Western novels, and crime TV shows. He reveled in memories of his upbringing on the rural Mill Street in Fortuna where he was raised with his six brother's and sisters. His family and friends will never forget his quick sense of humor and his sensitive nature. Chester spent the majority of his professional life working in the Humboldt County timber industry. He entered the field at the Pacific Lumber Co., worked at Carlotta Lumber Company, later at Eel River Sawmills. In his mid-40s Chester made a career change. He went back to school and proudly earned an Associates degree at College of the Redwoods. After graduation he took a job in the Humboldt County Department of Revenue and Recovery, and later transferred to a position in the California Department of Geology in Eureka, where he would retire. In his spare time he coached his sons in Little League, built awe inspiring hard wood furniture, and took annual hunting trips that often resulted in venison dinners. He is survived by his wife Luann Reid of Fortuna, sons Jay Reid and Keith Reid both of Sacramento, daughters-in-law Lynn Reid and Brienne Reid, and grandchildren Aidan, Collin, Miabella and Jaxon. He is also survived by siblings James Reid Jr., Mark Reid, Kathy Grigsby, Rebecca Berteau, Dianna Mallo, and Neal Reid. He is preceded in death by his parents James Reid Sr. and Carmen Reid. A memorial service will be held at Campton Heights Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Chester's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor New York, NY 10004, or www.jdrf.org.
