Wescott, conductor on the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad and second eldest in years of continuous service on the road, died at 11:15 a.m. today. He was 65 years of age. Mr. Wescott had been confined to a Cedar Rapids hospital this spring with pneumonia, but his health had improved since then and he had been at his Marion home several weeks after recovering. He was in an improved state of health this morning, his physician said, but death came suddenly while he was laying in bed, reading a newspaper. Funeral arrangements have not been made. Thursday June 26, 1919 The Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette Marion News FUNERAL C.H. WESCOTT TO BE HELD TOMORROW ------------------------------- Funeral services for C.H. Wescott, who died Wednesday, will be held at the family home, 649 West Seventh avenue, at 2:30 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Harry Glen Finny will be in charge. Services at the cemetery will be in charge of Trojan lodge, A.F. and A.M. Burial will be in Oak Shade. Chester Herbert Wescot [sic] was born in Syracuse, N.Y., May 21, 1854. He moved to Marion with his parents when he was a boy and entered the employ of the Milwaukee here. He has been in service continually for forty years. He was married Nov. 6, 1881, to Miss Katherine Lindsey, who, with the following children survives him: Mrs. Joseph of Council Bluffs, Charles Wescott of Council Bluffs, Chester of Cedar Rapids, and the Misses Mabel and Louise of Marion, besides a brother and a sister, Salem Wescott of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. C.M. Marson of Waterloo. The family has lived in Marion for six years and previously lived at Council Bluffs and Clinton. Mr. Wescott was a thirty-second degree Mason, a Woodman and a member of the Order of Railway Conductors.
