Description	:	**************************************** Chester O. Bowman, 78, Chanute, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Labette County Hospital, Parsons. He was born June 21, 1922, in Chanute, the son of Charles and Pernisha Williams Bowman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the German theater until his discharge in 1945. He worked as a policeman for Chanute and as deputy sheriff for Neosho County. He left Chanute in 1957 and was an iron construction worker. Bowman, 78, Chanute, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Labette County Hospital, Parsons. He was born June 21, 1922, in Chanute, the son of Charles and Pernisha Williams Bowman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the German theater until his discharge in 1945. He worked as a policeman for Chanute and as deputy sheriff for Neosho County. He left Chanute in 1957 and was an iron construction worker. He returned to Chanute in 1965 and managed the V.F.W. and worked for General Novelty. He retired in 1998. He was a life member of the V.F.W. and American Legion, and a member of Elks Lodge 806. He married Dorothy Burns on March 10, 1949, and she survives. He also is survived by six sons, Butch of Seattle, Wash., Tom of Renton, Wash., Mike of Columbus, Jerry of Chanute, Terry of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Troy of Wichita; two daughters, Sheila Davis of Waterloo, Iowa, and Vicki Howell of Chanute; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Two brothers, two sisters and one grandchild preceded him in death. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at 214 N.
