Gaarde, 82, of 639 First Ave., who died Tuesday at Community General Hospital in Sterling, Ill. The Rev. Horst Hehr of Samaritan Health System will officate. A 7 p.m. Masonic Rose Croix service will be conducted by Robert Wright. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Gaarde was born Feb. 8, 1914, in Clinton to Walter and Christina Franzen Gaarde. He married Verna N. Powell, April 21, 1946, in Clinton. He was a 1931 graduate of Clinton High School, and owned and operated the Midway Lounge for several years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Emulation Lodge No. 255, AF & AM, the Clinton Scottish Rite, the KAABA Shrine, the Shrine Oriental Band and the Eagles Aerie No. 795. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, MRs. Ruth Ann (DuWayne) Gray of Quincy, Ill.; a son Robert Gaarde of Westland, Mich.; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a stepgrandson; and a sister, Anna Weaver of Clinton. He was preceded iin death by a brother
