Description	:	Chester Ray Thomas, 86, of Luray, died on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at MontVue Nursing Home. He was born on Jan. 29, 1926, in Luray and was a son of the late Harold Roscoe Thomas and Florence M. Kelly Thomas. Mr. Thomas was an Army veteran of World War II and had worked at the Virginia Oak Tannery. He was a member of the Luray VFW Post 621 and the American Legion Post 22. Thomas, all of Stanley, and Harold Roscoe Thomas of Rileyville; two daughters, Regina K. Pumphrey of Tennessee, and Jennie L. Vaughn of Luray; a brother, Bobby Thomas of Stanley; two sisters, Helen Gray of Stanley, and Loretta Thomas of Richmond; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, at the Beahm's Chapel Church by Pastor George Milgram and Pastor Frank Painter. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the church prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
