Chris lived his entire life in the Ute-Soldier communities where he engaged in farming. He was united to Leona Lee on April 8, 1915 at Denison. To this union 4 sons and 3 daughters were born. Read More	FUNERAL SERVICES HELD IN SOLDIER, IOWA Chris Englvold Knutson, the son of Engebret and Mary (Christianson) Knutson was born October 10, 1891 in rural Soldier. Chris lived his entire life in the Ute-Soldier communities where he engaged in farming. He was united to Leona Lee on April 8, 1915 at Denison. To this union 4 sons and 3 daughters were born. His wife preceded him in death on August 5, 1947. Chris was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a longtime member of the Soldier Lutheran Church. He had served on various boards and committees in this church. He was a past school director of rural Ute school. He had also served as a trustee of Soldier Township and was a long time seed corn dealer for Northrup King seed company. He departed this life at the Missouri Valley hospital after a short illness, and had reached the age of 85 years, 7 months and 26 days. Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Marcedes Jenkinson, Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Kenneth (Lucille) Gorham, Dunlap; and Miss Vivien Knutson, Denver, Colorado; 3 sons, Vernon of Dunlap; Harlan of Chicago, Illinois and William D. of Dunlap; sister, Mrs. Mabel Anderson, Sioux City, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Clayton and 3 sisters. Funeral services were held in the Soldier Lutheran Church Saturday, June 9, 1979, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Philip Ritter officiating. Mrs. Vivian Anderson was the organist and Mrs. Stanford Carlisle was soloist and led the congregational singing. Pallbearers were grandsons; Gary Gorham, Larry Knutson, Steven Knutson, Bill Knutson, Jr., Chris H. Knutson, Roger Segan, Bradley Knutson and Harold Haines. Burial was in the Soldier Cemetery in rural Soldier under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home of Ute, Iowa. Published in The Dunlap Reporter (Dunlap, Iowa) on Thursday, June 14, 1979.
