Arvanitis was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Fremont. He lived all his life in Fremont, except for the time he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from Feb. 16, 1948, to Nov. 26, 1951. Arvanitis was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Fremont. He lived all his life in Fremont, except for the time he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from Feb. 16, 1948, to Nov. 26, 1951. He worked at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant in Mead. He attended barber school in Lincoln. He worked at Slick's Barber Shop, which he later purchased, and became Chris's Barber Shop. He began selling real estate for Gateway Realty in 1974. He returned to barbering in the early 1990s at Wiegert's Barber Shop. He married Margaret C. Wellman. Survivors include: his wife, Margaret of Newport, Ore.; three sons, Mike Arvanitis (and special friend, Vicki Schuler) and Nick (and wife, Kathy) Arvanitis, all of Fremont, and John (and wife, Stefany) Arvanitis of Elkhorn; two daughters, Mary Boncutter of Newport Beach, Calif., and Patricia (Mrs. Tony) Bell of Dallas; a brother, John (and wife, Kay) Arvanetis of Buena Park, Calif.; two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Charles) Bechtel and Elaine (Mrs. Gib) Dooley, all of Fremont; special friend, Mary Ellen Yelkey of Fremont; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister. The Rev. Tom Shaw of the Church of the Nazarene will officiate today's service. Friends may sign the register book until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
