Chris Olson was born January 1, 1895 in Norway, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Saudhaugen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received his education there. Read More	CHRIS OLSON Chris Olson, 84, formerly of Litchville, died in a Valley City hospital, Tuesday, February 6,1979. Chris Olson was born January 1, 1895 in Norway, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Saudhaugen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received his education there. He came to the United States and Litchville as a young man. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. On December 21, 1919, he married Emma Gudmestad in Moorhead. They farmed in Rosebud Township until 1969 when they moved to Valley City. Mr. Olson was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Valley City and was a life member of the Edgar A. Fisher Post of the American Legion. He had been a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and had served on the township and school board. He had been a grain inspector for the ASCS for a number of years. He is survived by three sons: Dale of Valley City; Col. Curtis in the Marine Corp. in Washington, D. C.; Allan, Minneapolis; eight daughters: Avis (Mrs. Earl) Busche of Valley City; Evelyn (Mrs. R.H.) Peterson of Minneapolis; Myrtice (Mrs. George) Hecktner of Coral Gables, Florida; Lois (Mrs. Erling) Rodland of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Arzelle (Mrs. Walter) Haseleu of Litchville; Joyce (Mrs. Gerald) McBride of Roswell, New Mexico; Janice (Mrs. O'Neill) Oppegaard of Valley City and Joan (Mrs. Wallace) Linde of Churchs Ferry. Also surving are: a half sister in Norway; 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and four brothers. Funeral services were Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Valley City with Rev. Roy Bredholt officiating. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery near Litchville in the spring. Arrangements were by Oliver's Chapel. Published in The Litchville Bulletin, Litchville, ND, February 1979.
