Description	:	Chris Summers of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away Friday at a hospital in Coffeyville where he had been receiving treatment. He had been reported improved Thur- sday by his nephew, Sgt. Gale Summers of Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, who had visited him and come on to Milford to visit here. Funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist Church in Milford, Rev. W. B. Chris Summers was born at Milford, Nebraska February 2, 1885 and passed away at Coffeyville, Kansas September 18, 1942 at the age of 57 years; 6 months, and 26 days. The early years of his life were spent on a farm west of Mil- ford and later he established a small business in Milford. He was a member of the Milford Volunteer Fire Department and also a member of the A. F. and A. M. Masonic Lodge in which he retained his membership until death. He took part in the activities and music of the Methodist Church while in Milford and continued activities in Coffeyville. In 1918 he moved to Coffeyville, Kansas and accepted a position with the Stephens-Haves Merchantile Company and in later years became Secretary and Treasurer of the firm. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and one brother. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Dan Schlegel and Mrs. Pete Rediger, two brothers, Dave and John Summers all of Milford, 22 nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
