Description	:	Christa Mead was born in Morgan county (sic), Illinois, September 18, 1876. She united with the Methodist church when twelve years of age. She came with her mother to Nebraska in September, 1898. On August 2, 1900 she was united in marriage to James A. Stern. Later she united with the Evangelical church. Mr. and Mrs. Stern lived in Blaine precinct until three years ago, when they moved to Nelson. She passed away at the home in Nelson on July 18, 1924. The departed leaves besides her husband, an aged mother, one sister, Mrs. Lavina... Read More	Christa Mead was born in Morgan county (sic), Illinois, September 18, 1876. She united with the Methodist church when twelve years of age. She came with her mother to Nebraska in September, 1898. On August 2, 1900 she was united in marriage to James A. Stern. Later she united with the Evangelical church. Mr. and Mrs. Stern lived in Blaine precinct until three years ago, when they moved to Nelson. She passed away at the home in Nelson on July 18, 1924. The departed leaves besides her husband, an aged mother, one sister, Mrs. Lavina Nicholson of Green Castle, Missouri, and one brother, Will Mead of Harvard, Nebraska. Her father preceded her in death March 21, 1896. The funeral service which was conducted by Rev. Vincent R. Beebe of the Nelson Methodist church, was held at the home in Nelson, Sunday, July 20, 1924, at 2:30 p.m. A goodly company of neighbors and friends gathered with the bereaved to pay their last respects to one whom they loved. The Nelson Male Quartette sang three beautiful and comforting selections. The body was laid to rest in the Nelson cemetery (sic). The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, July 24, 1924; pg. 5
