Read More	From Nevada Evening Journal and The Nevada Representative June 20, 1927 (page 4) Funeral of Mrs. Dirksen On Thursday Afternoon Funeral services for Mrs. John Dirksen, whose death occurred the evening of June 12, were held from the Seventhday Adventist church of which she was a member, Thursday afternoon, after which the body was laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery. The funeral was largely attended, there being a large concourse of friends and neighbors out to pay their tribute of respect to one of whom they had long loved and admired for her many sterling qualities and characteristics. All of the children were here for the services, and they together with the bereaved husband, were extended a full measure of sympathy in the loss of their dear one. Tena Jurgens was born in Pilsum, Germany, November 4, 1856 and died at her home in Nevada, June 12, 1927 being 70 years 7 months and 8 days of age. With her parents she came to America in 1875, locating at Ackley, Iowa. In February of 1882 she was united in marriage to John Dirksen of Faulkner. They made their home in Franklin county, Iowa until 1914 when they moved to Nevada, Iowa, their present home. To this union ten children were born, seven boys and three girls, all of whom are living. She leaves to mourn, her faithful husband, John Dirksen, seven sons, Cornelius E., Nevada; George C. of Alexander; John H., Ontario, California; Oley M. of Ames; Henry A. of Ames; Rinehart F. of Amarillo, Texas; Herman R., Hampton; and three daughters, Anna of Nevada; Mrs. Margaret Habernicht, College View, Nebraska; Mrs. Elizabeth Hanson of Nevada. Besides these loved ones she leaves one brother, Jerry Jurgens of Ackley; one sister, Mrs. Albert Lolling of Kansas, sixteen grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Early in life she gave her life to the Lord, uniting with the Reform church in Germany. After coming to America she united with the Evangelical church and thirty-five years ago, through the labors of H. M. J. Richards, she accepted the faith of the Seventh-day Adventist church. During all these years she has been a loyal, faithful, Christian and always found great joy in working for the advancement of the truth she loved. The Bible was her daily companion an she had read it through many times during her lifetime. Hers was an unselfish life, always considering others first. Her noble life career is ended. She sleeps today in Jesus, and though our hearts ache yet we do not sorrow as those who have no hope; but believe that if we are faithful we shall meet her beyond this veil of tears.
