Christian Fluetsch, 76, chairman of the board of Stutsman County Commissioners, died early Monday at a Jamestown Hospital of an acute illness. He was hospitalized last Friday. Fluetsch had been a county commissioner since 1925. serving as chairman of the board for many years. He was also president of the St. John's Lutheran congregation for 25 years, and taught in the Sunday School for 47 years; was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood; clerk for the Modern Woodmen of Amenca for 48 years; member of the Jamestown Board of Education for six years; was associated with the Great West Life Insurance Co. for over 30 years; was a member of the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce and was active on a committee which worked toward securing the Jamestown Dam. He was born Dec. 8, 1878, at Fountain City, Wis., where he attended school. He came to Jamestown in 1894 and later became associated with his uncle, Andrew Haas, in the Haas Mercantile Co. Fluetsch was married to Florence Frey, March 28, 1908, at the Frey home in Bloom Township, Survivors are his widow; a daughter, Mrs, Mark Vogel (Lois), Fargo: three grandsons; three brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Corell and Lutzie Fluetsch Visalia, Calif.; Adolph Fluetsch, Ventura, Calif.; John Fluetsch, Merced. Calif.; Mrs. Bertha Ernst, Stockton, Calif.; and Mrs. Henry Letcher [Litcher], Dinuba, Calif. Another brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. W. W. A. Keller in charge. Time for the funeral is not set. The body is at the Eddy Funeral Chapel here."
