Russia. He had eleven brothers and sisters. The family left Deundorf, S.R., on November 24, 1897, arriving in Jamestown, ND. on Dec. 23rd. Russia. He had eleven brothers and sisters. The family left Deundorf, S.R., on November 24, 1897, arriving in Jamestown, ND. on Dec. 23rd. They apparently had a rough crossing and were lost for ten days, due to storms which blew them off course. The family lived in Jamestown for 1 1/2 years, where his father worked on the railroad and his mother took in washing to help supplement the family income. In June of 1899, they packed their belongings and headed to their new homestead in Kidder Co., ten miles north of Pettibone. He met Mathilda Winter, who lived near Manfred, ND, and they traveled by horse and buggy to Harvey, where they were married on Dec. 8, 1906. Born to them were twelve children, two of whom died in infancy. They were: Martin, who had a fatal accident near Devils Lake in 1969; Paul of Carrington; Simon of Carrington; Rudolph of Kansas; Elsie of Hurdsfield; Edmond of Montana; Harry of Minnesota; Harold of Heaton; Walter of Medina and Ellen of Idaho. Christ farmed and raised his family fifteen miles southwest of Sykeston. When he retired, they moved into the town of Heaton, where he remained until he moved into the Golden Acres Manor Nursing Home in Carrington. He passed away there on Dec. 17, 1968. Mathilda passed away in Jamestown, Sept. 19,1964.
