Description	:	Son of Carl or Charles Praeuner and Mary Eyl. When the family arrived in Battle Creek Nebraska there were two brothers, John George Praeuner and George Carl(Charles)Praeuner. Eventually half the family used the spelling Prauner and the other side kept the Praeuner spelling. This was necessary because both brothers were giving their children the same names! John George Praeuner(Prauner)(whose wife was Wilhelmine Katherina Schott), also had a son he named Fred Charles. That Fred married Minnie Bierman. The true husband of Mary is actually Christian Friedrich (Fred) PRAEUNER, son of George Karl (Carl) PRAEUNER and Mary EYL, born Feb 24, 1867, died Apr 5, 1948. Christian Frederick PRAEUNER’s date of birth is listed as Feb 24, 1876 on his World War I Draft Registration Card (note spelling of last name). Johan (John) Georg PRAUNER and Georg Karl (Carl) PRAEUNER are brothers, born in Wüstenau, Crailsheim, Württemberg, Germany to Johann Martin and Eva Marie (BUHL) PRÄUNER. Johan (John) Georg PRAUNER was confirmed in 1858 in the Lutheran Church at Maria Kappel, Wurttemberg, Germany under the last name of PRAUNER. Georg Karl (Carl) PRAEUNER was baptized in the Lutheran Church at Maria Kappel, Wurttemberg, Germany also under the last name of PRAUNER. Family tradition is that one of the brother’s changed the spelling or their last name because of the confusion of similarly named children and to get the proper mail for each family. It is assumed that Georg Karl (Carl) changed the spelling from PRAUNER to PRAEUNER. They immigrated together in April of 1869. On the ship’s manifest, Georg Karl (Carl) was listed under the last name of PRAEUNER. Johan (John) Georg’s name is spelled PRAUNER on his headstone while Georg Karl (Carl) is listed as PRAEUNER.
