Description	:	CHRISTIAN WESTENDORF 1/12/1910 Christian Heinrich Friedrich Westendorf was born October 16, 1848 in Ahrendsee, Mecklenburg, Germany and was baptized shortly thereafter. He attended school and Lutheran instruction and on Palm Sunday, March 29, 1863 at Brunshaupten at the Confirmation Altar, he promised the Lord he would be faithful. Read More	CHRISTIAN WESTENDORF 1/12/1910 Christian Heinrich Friedrich Westendorf was born October 16, 1848 in Ahrendsee, Mecklenburg, Germany and was baptized shortly thereafter. He attended school and Lutheran instruction and on Palm Sunday, March 29, 1863 at Brunshaupten at the Confirmation Altar, he promised the Lord he would be faithful. When he was 21 years of age he wandered to America and at first worked as a hired man. In 1874 he purchased a farm on which he worked hard, spent many happy hours with his energetic wife, whom he married the same year. She gave him twelve children, he learned how to bear a cross, and was able to live out his life there. He was an active member of the local St. John Lutheran congregation for the last 28 years, was an inspiration to his family, and he did not lose heart when a deadly illness predicted an early death for him. He had to suffer for five years, two operations brought only temporary relief. He became seriously ill two weeks before his death. On Dec 28 he called his children to his bedside and spoke to them and comforted them. He and his wife received Holy Communion from the Pastor, then he waited for an answer to his prayer, for the Lord to take him home. On December 29, 1909 at 11:30 pm he quietly died. He had reached the age of 61 years, 2 months and 13 days. His funeral was held on the first Sunday of the New Year 1910 at the Ev. St John Church at Siegel, under the direction of Pastor H Haussler with many relatives and friends in attendance. He was buried on the church's cemetery where he will rest until the Great Day of Awakening! He leaves to mourn his passing his widow and the following children: Wilhelm, Karl, Fritz, August, and Ernst Westendorf, Mrs. O Lundberg, Mrs Wilhelm Moller, Christine, Heinrich, Emilie, Hermann, and Minna Westendorf, a brother in Germany, Heinrich Westendorf, brothers Fritz, Johannes, and August in this country; two sons-in-law, Wm Moller and O Lundberg, four daughters-in-law, Mrs Louisa Westendorf nee Wolf, Mrs Minna Westendorf nee Schwarze, Mrs Emilia Westendorf nee Kaiser, Mrs Carolina Westendorf nee Bergmann and 15 grandchildren. O God, who takes care of your own, you are unforgettable to us!
