Description	:	Boone County Democrat July 11, 1912 Boone Iowa One of the old residents of the county and well known and respected citizen passed away at his home in the Fifth ward on Wednesday morning at 8:00 o’clock at the age of 82 years, in the person of C.J. Crouse. Death was due to heart trouble and the deceased had been in poor health for more than two years. Internment will take place in the Mineral Ridge cemetery. Christian Jacob Crouse was born in Werttenberg, Tebingen, German, May 20th, 1830, and died of heart failure at his home in this city July 10, 1912, making him 82 years, 1 month and 30 days old at the time of his death. In 1855 he was united in marriage to with Sophia E. Meyer coming with her to this country in 1864, making their home on a farm near Mineral Ridge until two years ago when they moved to this city. To this union were born six children, four of whom are living. They are: C.H. Crouse, of Walnut Grove Minnesota; Mrs. Irene Coe, of Elmore, Minnesota; Mrs. Pauline Nixon, of Chicago, Illinois; and George W. Crouse, of this city. Mrs. Crouse passed away in July 1870. He later was united in marriage to Charlotte Fry. To this union were born seven children, four of these surviving, are: Frank, Mrs. Anna Bowman, Joseph, and Mrs. Maggie Pritchard, all of this city. He is also survived by three brothers, John F. and Jacob of this county and Frederick of Colorado.
