Description	:	Christen Nielsen Jensen Rodh [sic] was born in Flejsborg Parish, Års Herred, Ålborg, Denmark, on 16 Mar 1859, son of farmer Christen Jensen and his wife Karen Christiansdatter of Lille Sjørup. According to the 1900 census, Chris emigrated to the US in 1884. He married Maren Kirstine (Mary Kristena) Hansen 26 Apr 1890. Chris was an Audubon county, IA, farmer until he retired. Obituary, Audubon County Journal, 1 Jan 1948. Chris Roed Dies Friday Chris Roed, retired Exira farmer, died last Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Schlater. Roed, who had lived with this daughter for the past 12 years, died at the age of 88 years, following a long illness. Chris Roed was born in Denmark, March 16, 1859, and came to America in 1884. In 1890 he married Mary K. Hansen who preceded him in death in 1919. He was a member of the Exira Lutheran church and lived most of his life in or near Exira. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Schalter [sic] are three sons, Elmer and Martin of Exira and Henry of Anita, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at the Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Larsen officiating. Interment was in the Exira cemetery. Music during the services was furnished by a quartette.
