Description	:	Christian R. Jacobsen, age 82, of Clinton died Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 29th at St. John Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dan Pool will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 t0 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Pape Funeral Home and from 9:30 A.M. until the service time Monday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with military rites conducted by the AMVETS. Christian was born in Maysdorf, Wyoming on September 26, 1928, the son of Henry and Mary (Ferguson) Jacobsen. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1946. Following his graduation he enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corps and was later called to duty to serve in the Korean War. Christian married Doris Marlowe on September 1, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church. He was employed as a lab technician at Clinton Corn for 29 years, retiring in 1982. Christian was a very active member at St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball and bowling and was a member of the VFW. Christian is survived by his wife Doris; seven children, Susan (Stephen) Bousselot of Clinton, Sally (Michael) Robinson of Davenport, Charles (Melisa) Jacobsen of Calamus, Ruth (Kevin) Marsh of Clinton, Mark (Jacqueline) Jacobsen of Williamsburg, IA, Joyce (Aaron) Rosenbery of Lakeville, MN, and Rev. Steven (Lisa) Jacobsen of Bethalto, IL; 20 grandchildren, Michelle Beck, Carol and Sarah Bousselot, Heather Shook, Jessica Scott, Kimberly Heister, Jeremiah Jacobsen, Macailah Jacobsen, Christian Marsh, Kevin Marsh, Jr., Nathan Marsh, Andrew, Zachary, Isabelle, Amanda and Alexi Jacobsen, Ian and Emily Rosenbery and Megan and Joshua Jacobsen; 2 step-grandchildren, Jennifer Booth and Joseph Booth, II; 6 great grandchildren; two brothers, H. Martin (Marge) Jacobsen, Jr. of Camanche and Jack Jacobsen of Muscatine and a sister, Ellen (Don) Ketelsen of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
