Christy was born September 1, 1958, in Kearney, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Norris and Jeanie (Boothe) Renken. She received her primary education from Bertrand Public Schools and later graduated from Bertrand High School with the class of 1977. Read More	Christy K. Walston, 61 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at her home in Bertrand. Christy was born September 1, 1958, in Kearney, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Norris and Jeanie (Boothe) Renken. She received her primary education from Bertrand Public Schools and later graduated from Bertrand High School with the class of 1977. Following her education, Christy pursued higher education from Hastings Community College and received her LPN. On August 18, 1977, Christy was united in marriage to Ken Walston. This union was blessed with two sons: Trevor and Eric. The family made their home in Bertrand. Christy began working for Plum Creek Medical Group in Lexington, Nebraska, and also enjoyed working at the Oxford Nursing Home and the Bertrand Nursing Home. She enjoyed helping raise cattle and horses, chatting with friends, spending time with her grandkids and “gardening.” Christy was confirmed at and a member of Hope Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; two children in infancy, Zachory and Kendra; sister-in-law, Corazon Renken; and a grandson, Christopher Walston. Christy leaves to celebrate her life; her two sons: Trevor Walston and his wife, Amy of Holdrege; and Eric Walston and his wife, Jessica of Hastings, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Kale, Kohle, Adalaide, Thatcher, Kooper, Kruz, and Elias; her parents: Norris and Jeanie Renken of Bertrand; two brothers: Steve Renken and his wife, Theresa of Bertrand; and Calvin Renken of Salt Lake City, Utah; long-time boyfriend, John Paul Peterson of Bertrand; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
