Description	:	Ann Brock, age 73, of Washington died Monday August 25, 2008 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington following a nine year battle with cancer. Celebration of life services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday August 27, 2008 at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Bob Wollenberg and Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm Tuesday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Tuesday evening. Interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery. Ann was born on June 24, 1935 in Ainsworth, Iowa the daughter of P.E. and Mary R. (Wilkinson) O'Connor. She attended school in Ainsworth and graduated from Washington High School. Ann was united in marriage to Wayne Brock on August 26, 1952 in Washington, Iowa. Ann lived all of her adult life in Washington. She was the secretary at Marion Avenue Presbyterian Church and later worked as a secretary for the Washington Community School District for 26 years until her retirement in 1997. Ann was a member of the United Presbyterian Church where she was a Stephen's Minister, Deacon, taught Sunday school, and was a counselor at Camp Wyoming. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge where she was a Post Noble Grand, a member of Skirts & Shirts Square Dancing Club where she and Wayne attended two national conventions and had the opportunity to dance in England. Ann was voted Woman of the Year in 2006 by the Professional Business Women's Association. She loved camping, card playing, traveling, and was an avid reader having belonged to the book club at church. She enjoyed sewing having made five wedding dresses, and enjoyed sharing her finished products with her grandchildren. Ann is survived by her husband Wayne Brock of Washington; daughter, Marsha Platt and husband Richard of Waterloo; son, Patrick Brock and wife Lynne of Carter Lake; son, Ronald Brock and wife Peggy of Carter Lake; son, Larry Brock and wife Mary Gilchrist of Washington; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Meeks of Washington; and sister, Audra Williams of Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Christian Sager Brock; sister, Alma Batterson; sister-in-law, Madge Sabin; and two brothers-in-law, Keith Williams and Everett Meeks.
