Description	:	Christina was the daughter of Joann and Adeleid, nee Bannefeld, Albers. She was born in Raesfeld, Westfalen, Germany, on January 16, 1807. She married Bernard Joann Underberg on July 15, 1835, in Raesfeld. In May 1846 Bernard and Christina and their three small children - Gertrude, 8, John, 6, and Henry, 3 (a fourth child, Christina, had died in June 1845 at 8 months of age)- traveled to Antwerp, Belgium, where they boarded the Swedish barque "Olof" and sailed to New York. Read More	Christina was the daughter of Joann and Adeleid, nee Bannefeld, Albers. She was born in Raesfeld, Westfalen, Germany, on January 16, 1807. She married Bernard Joann Underberg on July 15, 1835, in Raesfeld. In May 1846 Bernard and Christina and their three small children - Gertrude, 8, John, 6, and Henry, 3 (a fourth child, Christina, had died in June 1845 at 8 months of age)- traveled to Antwerp, Belgium, where they boarded the Swedish barque "Olof" and sailed to New York. Also traveling with them were Christina's aged parents, Joann and Adeleid Albers, and William and Adelaid Rohenhorst (Roanhouse) and their six children. From New York, the group traveled to Wisconsin where Bernard Underberg and William Rohenhorst bought 80 acres in Hudson (now Lyons) Township in Walworth County, close to Burlington, Wisconsin. In Nov. 1847 the Underbergs had a third son, Bernard. Son Henry died July 7, 1848, and husband, Bernard Underberg, died in Sept. 1852. Some time after that, Christina and her sons, John and Bernard, and her mother, Adeleid Albers, moved to East Galena, Jo Daviess County, Illinois, where they are found in the 1860 census. Daughter Gertrude, who had married Gerhard VandeSand in 1858, remained in Burlington. In the 1870 census, Christina is shown as living with her son, John, and his wife, Mary, in Waterford Township, Clinton County, Iowa. Her mother, Adeleid Albers, had died in 1866 and is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Sugar Creek. Christina died Dec. 10, 1872, and is also buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Her husband, Bernard, and son, Henry, are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery (also called Gods Acre Cemetery) in Burlington, Wisconsin.
