Opp. January 12, 2015, obit courtesy of DG Bender The Northwest Blade, Eureka, South Dakota, April 1963 Funeral services for Mrs. Christ (Christina) D Opp, 78, of Eureka were held, Tuesday, April 16, at the Eureka Reformed Church. The officiating cleryman was Reverend Maurice Reidesel. Mrs. Opp passed away after a lingering illness of six weeks due to bronchitis. The past three weeks she was hospitilized at the Eureka Community Hospital where she passed away, Friday, April 12. She was born in 1885 in Eureka, to George G Neuharth and Christina nee Goehring. In 1904 she was married to Christian D Opp in the Glueckstal Reformed Church with Reverend Jungblut officiating. They homesteaded on a farm 14 miles northeast of Eureka. Since 1942, they have resided in Eureka. Mrs. Opp was a lifelong member of the Reformed Church, she was confirmed by W J Krieger in 1899. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Edwin of Moses Lake, Washington, Theodore of Eureka, and Alvin of Portland, Oregon; four daughters, Emma (Rudolph) Schauer of Roscoe, South Dakota, Frieda (Otto) Funk of Ashley, North Dakota, Edna (Gustave) Schlepp of Ashley, and Esther (Richard) Sayler of Portland; three sisters, Katherine (Fred) Hoff of Eureka, Margaret (Christ) Ehresman of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and Elizabeth (Theophil) Mehlhaff of Lodi, Caalifornia; three brothers, John Neuharth of Pierre, Gottfried Neuharth of Sacramento, California, and Edwin Neuharth of Sacramento; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. Her parents, one son in infancy, seven sisters and brothers preceded her in death. Casket bearers were Art Opp, August Opp, Calvin Opp, Elmer Neuharth, Harold Ehresman and Edwin Hoff. Interment was made at the City Cemetery with Straub's in charge of funeral arrangements.
