Christina is buried beside her mother-in-law, Susie, and Christina and Susie also share a gravestone. Christina was the daughter of Elisha James and Malinda (Hall) Parnell. She was married to Roy W. Potter on October 29, 1907, in Ottumwa. It appears that Roy and Christina were later divorced, then remarried, as there is another marriage record for them in Ottumwa, Iowa, on June 16, 1917. There seems to be a conflict in the records as to whether Christina's parents were named Parnell or Pownell. In her first marriage record, they are named as Elisa Pownell and Lindy Halls; in the second marriage record, they are named as Lash Parnell and Linn Hall; and in her death record, they are named as Lash Parnell and Len Hall. --------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," Saturday, April 20, 1918: Mrs. Roy Potter Mrs. Christina Potter, wife of Roy Potter, died at her home west of the city at 9:05 o'clock last evening. Mrs. Potter was born July 29, 1889, in Ottumwa. She was married October 29, 1907. Mrs. Potter is survived by her husband, three daughters, Susie Venita, Margaret May and Edith Emile; by a three-weeks-old son, Roscoe Earl; one sister, Miss Maggie Parnell of Ottumwa; and one brother, Roy of Rock Island, Ill. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the home. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Isaac Williams of the Open Door Rescue Mission. Interment will follow in Shaul cemetery. Funeral Notice From "Ottumwa Courier," Monday, April 22, 1918: Mrs. Roy Potter The funeral for Mrs. Christina Potter, wife of Roy Potter, who died Friday evening, was held at the home west of the city at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Rev. Isaac Williams of the Open Door Rescue Mission conducted the service.
