Pesicka was born in Wagner, SD on October 27, 1916 to Paul and Mary (Thaler) Houska. She attended Lone Tree Township School and completed her schooling at Lawrence Township 5. She spent several years as a Mother's Helper. She also worked as a sales clerk at Kotab Groceries in Dante. SD. She married Peter Paul Pesicka at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante, SD on April 21, 1936. They raised 6 children and resided on a farm east of Lake Andes, SD until 1946 when they moved to Lake Andes. After her husband's death in 1984, Christine continued to live in her home in Lake Andes until August 2000, when she moved to the Lake Andes Health Center. Along with raising her family, she enjoyed gardening, doing fancy work and making beautiful handmade quilts. Her favorite hobby was decorating beautiful wedding and birthday cakes for many people. She also enjoyed baking kolaches and rolecky, crocheting, sewing and painting. She worked as a sales clerk for 34 years at the Ben Franklin Store and Andes Pharmacy in Lake Andes, retiring at the age of 73. She died on June 29, 2005 at the Lake Andes Health Care Center at the age of 88. The family would like to thank all who participated in Christine's care and helped make her last years comfortable at Lake Andes Health Care Center and during the times she was a patient in Parkston and Sioux Falls facilities.
