Description	:	Christine Hall, age 106, of Grafton, ND, passed away on Sunday, September 06, 2015 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Christine was born to Christian (Kristjan) and Solvieg (Halldorson) Geir on June 5, 1909. She was born and raised on their farmstead in Thingvalla Township, two miles south of Mountain. She was the eldest of 11 children and even as a young girl was known for spreading joy to everyone, so much so that K.N. Read More	Christine Hall, age 106, of Grafton, ND, passed away on Sunday, September 06, 2015 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Christine was born to Christian (Kristjan) and Solvieg (Halldorson) Geir on June 5, 1909. She was born and raised on their farmstead in Thingvalla Township, two miles south of Mountain. She was the eldest of 11 children and even as a young girl was known for spreading joy to everyone, so much so that K.N. Julius, their hired man and poet, penned a poem about her titled: "About Little Christine Geir". About Little Christine Geir Since I first saw you near, My need for sunlight dwindled; The light for my life's path, Is by the light in your eyes kindled. Christine graduated high school from the Agricultural and Training school in Park River, North Dakota. She then attended the Mayville State Teacher's College and on December 18, 1931, she received her Teaching Certificate. She taught in Thingvalla rural schools from 1932-1936. On July 28, 1936, Christine married Joseph W. Hall at a service held on the Chris Geir farm south of Mountain. They made their home together 2 miles south of Gardar where they raised 4 sons and hosted many family get-togethers. They were members of the Gardar Lutheran Church where Christine taught Sunday School, was a member of the Gardar Ladies Aid and the Gardar Homemakers. "Amma" as she was affectionately known to many, will be fondly remembered for her good cooking and baking, her loving nature, and her many acts of kindness. Christine was proud of her Icelandic heritage and in 1999 was part of the re-dedication of the monument to K.N. Julius, in 2004 was the Grand Marshal of the annual Duece of August parade in Mountain, and in 2007 gave the Keynote Address for the dedication of the Thingvalla Lutheran Church Memorial. After Joe's death, she resided in Hoople, then Leisure Estates in Grafton and finally the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton. She is survived by two sisters: Eleanor (Willard) Biliske, Seattle, WA; Marian (Robert) McWalter, East Grand Forks, MN; Four sons: Walter (Merilee) Hall, Los Angeles, CA; Alfred (Marjorie) Hall, Seattle, WA; Warren (Marilyn) Hall, Hoople, ND; Jay Hall, Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren: Lisa (Mike) George, Todd (Elizabeth) Hall, Jolene (John) Doke, Brandon Hall, Julie (Eric) den Boer, Sarah (Jason) Lovas, Kevin (Amy) Hall, Alicia (Brian) Harstad, Laura (Jon) Rieger, seven great grandchildren: Brennen Hall, Aiden Hall, Haiden Doke, Collin Doke, Claudia Doke, William Hall and Margret Hall. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe, her parents, Chris and Solveig, her siblings: Johann (Elizabeth and Elma), Thorhallur (Sigurjona), Ann Bobillier (Armond), Gudbjorn Lilja Paulson (Glenn Bryson and Allen), Theodore (June), Sigurjon (Chelta), Sigurlaug Mae Gorman (Jesse) and Clarence (Beatrice). About Little Christine Geir was written by K.N. Julius and translated to English by Sir Magnus Olafson. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Gardar Cemetery, Gardar, ND.
