Hoffman, was held at the Lutheran church at 10 o'clock Friday morning and the body was laid at rest in the Lutheran cemetery. "Grandma" Miller, whose maiden name was Christina Lenz, was born in Daisbach, Baden, Germany, about 77 years ago and was there married to the husband who survives her. She came to America with her husband and after a residence of several years in Wisconsin the family drove through by team to Humphrey, Nebraska, Mr. Miller homesteading a place which is now a part of that city about forty years ago. Some five or six years later the family located in Battle Creek. All acquaintances testify to Mrs. Miller's thorough christian character and remember her many deeds of kindness. She was a woman who cared little for the frivolities of life, being happiest when she could remain at home and minister to the loved ones about her. To those now saddened by the loss of a loving wife and mother, all extend sincere sympathy. Aside from the husband there survive seven sons and four daughters: George, Jacob and William Miller of Battle Creek, Henry and John Miller of Norfolk, Christoph Miller, recently of Seattle, Washington, Fred C. Miller of Orchard, Neb., Mrs. Kate Schreiber of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Mrs. Lizzie Schacher, Mrs. Emma Haight and Mrs. Minnie Eyl of Battle Creek.
