She is survived by two sons, Robert H. Shipp of Stuarts Draft and James Marshall Shipp of Sugar Grove, North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Patrick M. Shipp of Wilmington, North Carolina, Holly Frances Shipp of Providenciales, British West Indies, and Carl Shipp and Hannah Shipp of Sugar Grove, North Carolina. Christine Shipp was a member of Finley Memorial Presbyterian Church in Stuarts Draft and First Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro. She played piano for Sunday school and often volunteered to entertain area nursing home residents with music on Sunday afternoons. A loving wife and mother, Mrs. Shipp was also an avid flower gardener and enjoyed flower arranging, with special interest in Japanese Ikebana. She served as editor of the North Carolina Gardner magazine and president of the North Carolina Council of Garden Clubs. She participated in many local garden club activities in Stuarts Draft. Christine never lost her appreciation of those things God gave us that beautify His creation. Mrs. Shipp loved children and was a kindergarten and elementary school teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina, and taught kindergarten at First Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro and Sunday school at Finley Memorial. Some of her fondest memories recalled her time with children. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched as children and parents. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday August 2, 2006, at Finley Memorial Presbyterian Church in Stuarts Draft. A private graveside service will follow in Crewe, Virginia.
