Description	:	Christine Rodgers Thackston, 91, widow of Hoyt "Bud" A. Thackston, of 1147 N. Main Street, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at her home. In the midst of our sadness, we praise God and give Him thanks for the life of a woman we were privileged to call beloved wife, cherished mother, devoted "Mama Chris" and friend. Mrs. Thackston was born December 22, 1915, in Fork Shoals, to the late Henry Alex Rodgers and Bessie Janet Rice. She was raised by her father and stepmother, the late Kate Culbertson Rodgers. She was an alumnus of Anderson College, and a member of Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church. She was a prior member of First Baptist Church of Fountain Inn, where she served in the Cradle Roll Department. Surviving are a son, Keith Thackston, and his wife, Anne, of Simpsonville; a daughter, Julia Baynes, and her husband, Phil, of Fountain Inn; four grandchildren, Jim Thackston, Leigh Thackston, Burt Baynes and his wife Cherry, and Mark Baynes and his wife Deina; five great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Wilma Gault. She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Thackston. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cannon Memorial Park, officiated by Dr. Steve Mays. The family would like to express a sincere thank-you to Melvina Richardson, Joan Desjardin, Carol Bennett, Priscilla Nelson, Dr. Banks Cates and staff, and the staff of Interim Hospice for their love and compassionate care of Mrs. Thackston. Memorials may be made to Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church, Children's Division, P.O. Box 337, Fountain Inn, SC 29644, or to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29301.
