Description	:	Christopher Bartels lived to the advanced age of ninety-two years and twenty three days, and died at the home of his son, Henry Bartels, eleven and one-half miles southwest of Tecumseh, on Wednesday, November 10, 1937, as was stated in this paper last week. He had been failing for nine months, and death was due to the physical infirmities of age. He had been failing for nine months, and death was due to the physical infirmities of age. A son of Frederick and Marie Bartels, Christoph Bartels was born at Hessen, Schaumburg, Germany, October 18, 1845, and the family came to the United States and located in Illinois in 1846. In 1868 they came to Nebraska. The departed secured his education in the parochial schools at Schaumberg, Illinois, and he was married to Karoline Rinne, at Schaumberg, September 27, 1868. Mrs. Bartels departed this life on July 15, 1918. The seven children born to the couple are living and they are Caroline, Mrs. William Beethe of Elk Creek; Sophie, Mrs. Henry Geweke, Herman, Miss Fredericka, Wilhelmine, Mrs. William Kettelhake, and Henry, all of Steinauer; Emma, Mrs. Henry J. Beethe of Elk Creek. There are two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Herman Bartels, and a son-in-law, Henry J. Beethe. Surviving also are six sisters-in-law, Mrs. Frederick Bartels, Mrs. Anna Bartels, Mrs. Hannah Bartels, Mrs. William Rinne, Mrs. Sophie Rinne, Mrs. Fred Rinne Sr. as well as seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and a great many other relatives. Mr. Bartels located first in Johnson County, and that was 1868, and later he located on a farm over in Pawnee County. His life's vocation had been farming. Mr. Bartels joined the church in 1868, and he had continued his membership since. He was a good farmer, a kind and considerate husband and father, and was held in high esteem by his neighbors and other friends. There were brief services at the home at 1:30 o'clock, p.m. on Friday, and the funeral was held at St. Peter's Lutheran church, southwest of Elk Creek, at 2:15 o'clock. Rev.
