Sailed for Canada about 1844 with his wife, two young daughters and vaious family members. Sadly, family memoirs say the younger girl, Agnes, was swept overboard during the voyage. The family settled in Edwardsburgh, Grenville County, Ontario where Christopher worked as a blacksmith and farmer. Their household included several Dougless relatives who may have immigrated with the Johnstones. At least four grandchildren and great-grandchildren were given his name - Christopher Johnstone. |
