Kibler, aged 35 years. ~~ 'The Madisonian,' Virginia City, MT 17 May 1877, page 2: A solemn gloom was cast over the city at noon on Saturday last by the announcement of the death of Mr. Chris. Kibler, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Virginia City. His last illness was of short duration, death occurring only two days after the fatal attack. Mr. Kibler emigrated to Montana in 1864, from Girard, Pennsylvania, of which place he was a native, and has resided in Virginia City ever since, with the exception of a few months' absence on a visit to his old home in the States. He was a man of free and generous impulses, beloved by all who knew him, and in departing this life, it may truly be said that he "left not an enemy behind." In the last City Council he filled the position of Alderman of the Second Ward, and was an efficient officer. A man of unrivaled business capacity, honest and upright in his dealings, his loss will be deeply felt in the community of which he was an active member. The funeral services were held at Grace M. E. Church, and conducted by Revs. W. W. Van Orsdel and E. A. Bridger. A large concourse of citizens were in attendance to pay the last sad tribute of respect to the memory of the deceased. Mr. Kibler was married Jan. 24, 1877, to Miss Lizzie Belless, of this city - who has the sincere condolence of the entire community in the hour of her bereavement. He leaves also a father, four brothers, and a sister, residing in Girard, Pa. It is a singular coincidence that the house in which the deceased first went into business on his own account in 1864, stood on the same lot where now stands the residence in which he died.
