A celebration of life will be held from 4-7pm, Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Runnells Community Center, Runnells. Clair was born on December 26, 1927 in Runnells, Iowa to Chester and Leona (Town) Bowers. He graduated from Runnells High School and Simpson College. He faithfully served in the US Navy during WWII. Bowers, 90, passed away, January 1, 2018. A celebration of life will be held from 4-7pm, Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Runnells Community Center, Runnells. Clair was born on December 26, 1927 in Runnells, Iowa to Chester and Leona (Town) Bowers. He graduated from Runnells High School and Simpson College. He faithfully served in the US Navy during WWII. In 1954 he was united in marriage to Dorothy DeJoode and they made their home in Runnells. He served as Postmaster in Runnells for 35 years and retired in 1987. Clair was a member of the Runnells Christian Church, American Legion, Elks Lodge, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Eastern Star and the Des Moines Consistory. He was a great story-teller and enjoyed boating, camping, and playing golf. Clair is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; two step sons, Steve (Pat) Miller of Ankeny and Ron (Paulette) Miller of Des Moines; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie (Darin) Becker, Molly (Tom) Bean, Nick (Andria)Klinefeldt, Scott Bird, Lori Skoog, Robbie Bird and Debbie (Khamphoui) Baccam; 18 great grandchildren, Michael Bird, Allie and Colton Skoog, Andrew Bird, Kendal Sinclair, Heather, Hilary and Hailey Baccam, Sierra, Devin and Selia Becker, Ally, Aidan Klinefeldt, Hayden, Remy and Sage Sivertsens, Piper and Darby Bean; and 4 great great grandchildren, Ethan and Nathan Bird, Riley Hockins and Paisley Baccam- Jones; sister, Bernadine Mills of Runnells as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. Memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. ILES ~ GRANDVIEW PARK CHAPEL.
