Description	:	Clara Adelia “Kay” Gates 97, Resident of Ridgewood Retirement Center, Bridgewater, formerly of Blandford passed away on Sunday March 20, 2016 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. She was the daughter of the late Owen and Alice (Keddy) Hiltz. Kay was born in the Forties where she was educated and later went to Teachers College in Truro. Read More	Clara Adelia “Kay” Gates 97, Resident of Ridgewood Retirement Center, Bridgewater, formerly of Blandford passed away on Sunday March 20, 2016 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. She was the daughter of the late Owen and Alice (Keddy) Hiltz. Kay was born in the Forties where she was educated and later went to Teachers College in Truro. In the early years she taught in Blandford and moved on to Cannan, Kings Co., Lake Ramsey and then back to Blandford before moving to Dartmouth where she spent the remainder of her 38 year teaching career retiring in 1980 as principal of Park and Greenvale Schools. Known fondly too many as Aunt Kay. She was a faithful member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church singing in the choir, serving as Parish Warden, council member and the superintendent of Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of Seasiders and was very active in her community. Survived by her son Darryl (Heather), Blandford; grandsons, Todd (Mary Ann) and Kyle (Amanda); great grandchildren, Thomas, Ted, Paityn and Cameron; sisters, Marie Dixon and Lottie McAlpine, both of Dartmouth; Joan Walker, Truro; sisters-in-laws, Pansy Hiltz, Bernice Hiltz, Annice Gates, Nina Schnare, Coral Janes; numerous nieces and nephews and a special niece, Mona Reeves. She was predeceased by her husband Hardy, brothers, Reuben, Russell, Hencie, Foster; sisters, Abby, Evelyn and Ina. The family will receive visitors 4-7 pm Wednesday March 23rd in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday March 24th in St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blandford. Rev. Louis Quenelle officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery.
