The departed came to this country from Sweden in 1869 and has been a resident of Pleasant township, Lucas county, Iowa, ever since. She was married October 23, 1870, to Andrew L. Read More	Wife of Andrew Lawrence Nelson OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, December 31, 1929 MRS. ANDREW L. NELSON Mrs. Clara Anderson Nelson was born in Linkoping parish, in the province of Ostergotland, Sweden, January 28, 1844. She was confirmed and spent the days of her youth at her birthplace. The departed came to this country from Sweden in 1869 and has been a resident of Pleasant township, Lucas county, Iowa, ever since. She was married October 23, 1870, to Andrew L. Nelson, at Chariton, Iowa. For 59 years she lived with her companion in a loyal and happy conjugal relationship. To their blessed union of matrimony were born five children, one son and four daughters. The son preceded her in death in infancy. As a grown woman she was converted in the living faith in Jesus Christ and joined a group of pious Christians. She later affiliated with the local Zion M. E. church of Pleasant township and held membership until her departure. After a brief ailment of three days, Mrs. Nelson passed into eternal rest to be with the Lord on December 23, 1929, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 27 days. Those surviving are the aged husband, Andrew L. Nelson, the four daughters, Mrs. Emma H. Johnson of Chariton, Ia; Mrs. W. O. Shore of Pleasant township; Mrs. Frank Ambelang of Benton township; Mrs. Carl Buzzard of Pleasant township; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a number of other relatives and a host of friends. The neighbors and friends of the bereaved ones extend their sincere sympathy in the loss of a devoted wife, loving mother and a kind neighbor and friend. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Helje Johnson, of the Swedish Mission Covenant church of Chariton, Ia., were held from the family home and the Zion M. E. church on Saturday afternoon, December 28, 1929. Appropriate singing was furnished by Mrs. Helje Johnson. The floral offerings were beautiful. The grandsons acted as pallbearers. The remains were laid to rest in the Zion cemetery.
