Burial will be at the Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Monmouth, Iowa. Clara Belle Lind was born on October 27, 1934 in Clinton, Iowa, to Oscar E. Lind and Helen M. (Heath) Lind. She was a 1953 graduate of Maquoketa Community High School. She married Thomas J. Rorah on November 25, 1953 in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1996. Clara had first farmed with her husband. She then worked as a nurses aide, and for many years worked as a sewer and scroller at Pacific Coast Feather in Maquoketa until retirement. Clara was a member of Faith Community Church, Maquoketa Garden Club and the Town and Country Quilters Club. Clara enjoyed quilting, working outside with her flowers and garden and playing euchre. She especially loved time spent with her family. Clara is survived by her children, Polly (Harry) DeLange of Davenport, IA, Linda (Ernie) Mendel-Davidson of Maquoketa, IA, and Tom (and girlfriend Barb) of Maquoketa, IA; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Charles Lind, a sister, Donna Lyons, a son, David, a daughter, Carol, a grandson, Joshua Mendel, and twin great-grandchildren, Colton and Damon Miller. A Clara B. Rorah Memorial Fund has been established.
