Redmon, 88, well known resident of LeMars for many years, died Monday, March 27, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Sammis, in Evanston, Ill., where she had lived in recent years. Her death was due to the infirmities of age as she had been in failing health for some time. Clara B. Smith was born at Beetown, Wis., February 29, 1856, where she grew up. When a young woman she engaged in the profession of teaching and was an instructor in Plymouth county when she met her future husband, James G. Redmon, a pioneer barber in LeMars. They were married at Beetown, Wisconsin, February 21, 1889, following their marriage settled in LeMars. Mr. Redmon passed away October 18, 1925, and she continued to live here until a few years ago when she went to live with her daughter. Mrs. Redmon had a wide acquaintance in LeMars and had many friends. She was a member of the Congregational church and a member of the Eastern Star and a number of several clubs. She is survived by her son, Norman J. Redmon, of Chicago, and her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Sammis of Evanston, Ill., and two grandchildren, Shirley Sammis of Evanston and James Sammis, who is in the Navy somewhere on the Pacific ocean. The remains were accompanied to LeMars by members of the family and the funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Mauer chapel with Rev. Joseph J. Steele of Sioux City officiating, and interment was made beside the remains of her husband in the City cemetery. The pallbearers were: E. Beachler, N. J. Bolser, J. G. Koenig, Clyde Pelton, Earl F. Remer, and Charles Tucker.
