Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Father Joe Dillinger will preside at the services. Lector for the Mass will be Dennis Schleisman. Gift bearers will be Donald Stroh and Irene Klahn. Eucharistic minister will be June Bernholtz. Casket bearers will be Wayne Harmening, Daryl Winker, Clair Otto, Ed Murphy, Robert Pudenz and Dennis Schleisman. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and there will be a Christian wake service by the parish at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. She was born July 30, 1904, at Carnarvon, Iowa, to Joseph and Katherine (Bruning) Gietz. She came to Carroll as a child and attended SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Elementary School and graduated from St. Angela Academy in 1923. She was then employed by Heider Manufacturing Co. for six years. She moved to Des Moines in 1929 and was a secretary for Davidson Furniture Co. She married George Stroh on Nov. 7, 1931, in Des Moines. Mrs. Stroh returned to Carroll in 1940 and was employed as first deputy in the Carroll County Treasurer's Office. In 1944 she began employment in the credit department of H&H Foods (later F&H Foods). She retired in 1983. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and the Parish Ladies Guild. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of various card clubs. Mrs. Stroh is survived by a son, Donald Stroh, of San Francisco, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Bertha Gietz, Julia Harvey, and Rosella Sprott; and one brother, Archie Gietz.
