She had been ill of Bright's disease for about 10 months and all that medical skill could do was done to bring her back to health so bright and active a child but to no avail. Clara Elenor Davis was born April 17, 1894, and at the time of her death was 3 years, 8 months, and 7 days old. She was a child with a very sweet disposition, "To know her was to love her," and her absence from the home causes a vacancy in the hearts of her father and mother which never can be filled. Rev. Ed. B. Cousins conducted the funeral services at the home on Sunday, the 26th instant, taking his text from the Second Book of Samuel, Chapter XII verses 18 to 24. He spoke very comforting words to the bereaved parents and friends, after which the remains were followed by a large number of relatives and laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery." -Audubon County Journal December 30, 1897 "We desire to express our sincere thanks to the many kind friends who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and death of our little daughter.
