Description	:	Clara was the daughter of C Bowers and Lena Eva Falk. She married William Ernest Falk. They had 5 children, William C, Hellen I, Floyd I, Kennard M and Milford W Falk. Clara Bowers was born January 26, 1888 on the family farm near Furley (Sedgwick Co.) KS. Read More	Clara was the daughter of C Bowers and Lena Eva Falk. She married William Ernest Falk. They had 5 children, William C, Hellen I, Floyd I, Kennard M and Milford W Falk. Clara Bowers was born January 26, 1888 on the family farm near Furley (Sedgwick Co.) KS. When she was four years old, the family moved to Cushing, Indian Territory, Oklahoma, arriving January 26, 1892 by covered wagon. Clara was the fourth child born to Charles Lewis and Lena (Falk) Bowers. She started school in a one-room school house with her older brothers, Harry and Paul and her sister, Mary. The family lived north of Cushing for eleven years. At that time, they moved to western Oklahoma to what was then known as Oklahoma Territory. Her father, Charles, and older brother, Harry, filed claims on land in adjoining sections. She attended "Roots" school, two miles south and one west of their home and either walked or rode in a horse-drawn wagon that was used as a "school bus." When she was sixteen years old, she met William Falk of South Dakota who had come with his father, Wilhelm Fridrich Herman Falk, to visit the Bowers family. They were married two years after meeting on September 30, 1908, at Buffalo (Harper Co), Oklahoma and then moved to Centerville, South Dakota where they farmed. For twenty-three years they tilled the soil and raised a family of five children---four boys and one daughter: William Charles, b.01-10-1910; Helen Louise, b.06-13-1913; Floyd Lawrence, b.10-12-1915; Kennard Merlin, b. 08-17-1920; Milford Walter, b.05-14-1924. On September 3, 1931, Will was killed accidentally. Clara continued to live on the family farm until her death June 1, 1973. Both are buried in a cemetery near Centerville, SD. Clara's grandfather Falk (John August) and Will's grandfather, Ernst Karl Gottfried Falk were brothers.
