Read More	Clara Panos, age 92, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, where she has made her home for a little over a year. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in Protivin, where there will be a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a parish Vigil Service at 5 p.m. Clara was born in Sumner Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa on the family farm on September 24, 1915. She was the daughter of Frank and Lydia Barloon Koudelka. She has a sister Alice and had a brother Louis who is deceased. Clara attended school in her first years in Waucoma, Iowa, staying with her grandparents, Joseph and Anna Barloon. Later she attended the local Country School through grade 8. She then stayed at home to help her parents with farming. On October 10, 1933, Clara married Frank Voyek in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, Iowa. To this union were born three children, JoAnn, Lawrence and Susan. Most of her life, Clara spent as a farmwife helping her husband with the farming and chores as well as all the house work and family. In those days farming was very labor intensive and hard work. Due to Frank's health they sold the farm 1969 and retired to Protivin, Iowa in August, 1969 where they had built a new home. Frank was diagnosed with leukemia in 1974 and died on October 11, 1975. Of that year he spent a total of six months in and out of the hospital. Clara stayed at his side through all the time he was in the hospital and cared for him at home. After Frank died, Clara took a job as a cook at the Cresco Care Center and later worked as a cook at the Holy Trinity Lunchroom. On Mary 15, 1982, Clara married Adolph Panos. Adolph liked to travel, so during their marriage they took several trips across the U.S. Adolph passed away on September 19, 1990 leaving Clara once more widowed. Clara lived in the home that she and Frank had built until l996 when she moved to the Protivin Apartments. Clara enjoyed playing cards and in these last years has worn out several decks of cards playing solitaire. She also enjoyed company and usually had someone drop by every day. On Thursdays she attended the noon meal at the Senior meal site and stayed to play cards with the Senior citizen's Group. She enjoyed her apartment and neighbors until October, 2006 when she moved to Evans Memorial Home. She was very satisfied there, received loving care, and enjoyed many visitors. She has seven grandchildren, Christel Dostal, Cheryl Hodgerson, Dorene Johnson, Lauri Dick, Michael Voyek, Tom Voyek, and Amy Folker. There are four great grandchildren, Heather and Holly Hodgerson, David Dick and Nathan Folker. Clara's stepchildren include Alden and Duane Panos, Lorraine Carlson, Doris Reicks, and Carol Deeney. There are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren of these families.
