Clara married Frank Edwin Huston on July 27, 1893, in Brock, Nemaha County, Nebraska. Frank was born September 21, 1862, in Wyoming Community near Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska, the son of Daniel Austin and Mary A. (Hawk) Huston. Clara and Frank had the following known children: 1. Gladys Marie (Huston) Bravinder (1907-1991) 2. Alice May (Huston) Roberson (1909-1992) In addition to their two daughters, Clara and Frank adopted a young boy from Omaha, Nebraska. 3. Ralph G. Gilespie (ca 1900-?). At the time of Clara's death Ralph was serving in the military on the Mexican border. He also served in World War I. Clara who had been ill for quite sometime took her own life at home on November 15, 1916, in Brock, Nemaha County, Nebraska. Following is an article that appears in the Nemaha County Official newspapers on September 24, 1916. BROCK WOMAN DIED AFTER TAKING POISON MRS. FRANK HUSTON PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY NIGHT Had Been Very Ill and Unknown to Nurse Secured Bottle of Poison and Swallowed Contents - Was Well Known Woman. Mrs. Frank Huston died at Brock last Wednesday evening from the effects of poison self administered. Mrs. Huston had been in poor health for a long time and her mind had become somewhat deranged. For this reason she was kept in the constant care of a nurse, but Wednesday evening she succeeded in getting a bottle of disinfectant, which contained poison and drank part of the contents. Physicians were hurriedly summoned but efforts to relive her were to no purpose and she passed away. The decreased was a woman who was well known and highly respected in the Brock neighborhood. Her death came as a shock to her friends and they join in extending sympathy to the members of the family. Clara Wakelin was born on a farm near Brock August 31, 1868 and grew to womanhood in that neighborhood. She was married July 27, 1893 to Frank Huston. They continued to live on the farm until 1911 when they removed to Brock. Mrs. Huston was a member of the Methodist church and always took an active interest in the religious work so long as the condition of her health permitted. She was a woman of fine character and much devoted to her home. She is survived by her husband and two children Gladys and Alice. A number of years ago the family adopted and raised a boy who has now reached young manhood and is serving the army on the Mexican border. To all these the sympathy of the people of the community is freely extended. Her father and mother are both dead and a brother died very recently in Canada. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Brock at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon and were attended by a large gathering of friends of the deceased and of the family.
