Description	:	Mrs. Clara Halliday, 84, Lake Preston, SD, formerly of Kenmare and Minot, died Tuesday at a Lake Preston nursing home. Her funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church, with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery, both in Kenmare. The widow of longtime Kenmare physician Dr. D.J. Halliday, she was born Oct. 12, 1901, at Broadview, Saskatchewan, a daughter of Dr. Arthur W. and Margaret Allingham. Read More	Mrs. Clara Halliday, 84, Lake Preston, SD, formerly of Kenmare and Minot, died Tuesday at a Lake Preston nursing home. Her funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church, with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery, both in Kenmare. The widow of longtime Kenmare physician Dr. D.J. Halliday, she was born Oct. 12, 1901, at Broadview, Saskatchewan, a daughter of Dr. Arthur W. and Margaret Allingham. She was reared in that area and earned a teacher’s certificate at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. She taught for a time at Brandon, Man., prior to her marriage to Dr. David Halliday May 2, 1925, at Winnipeg. They lived at Grenora before moving to Kenmare in December 1926. He was in practice there until his retirement in 1958. He died April 29, 1960. She moved to Minot in 1963. In 1978 she moved to Fargo, and for the last five months had been living at the Lake Preston nursing home. She was a member of United Methodist Church and was organist there for many years. She also was a member of the Kenmare American Legion, and was active in music circles both in Kenmare and Minot. A known bridge player, she had earned master points in the game. Survivors: sons, Dr. David J. Halliday, Lake Preston, Dr. D. Ross Halliday, Fargo, Hugh Halliday, New York, NY; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Mrs. George (Kathleen) Porteous, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to noon at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare. From the scrapbook of Lillian Lundgren Zeltinger who passed away in 1997.
