Mrs.Thompson,93, died March 30,1989 at Bethany Manor in Story City. . Clara M. Thompson, the daughter of Christian and Bertha Jensen Charlson, was born Oct.11, 1895, on a farm in Center township near Leland. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran church in Lake Mills and was graduated from Lake Mills high school. June 14, 1916, she was married to Gilbert T. Thompson at Salem Lutheran church. They farmed west of Leland until moving to the present family farm near Benson Grove, northeast of Leland, in 1923. Her husband died Nov. 25, 1968. In 1974, Mrs. Thompson moved from the farm to live in Forest City. She later moved lo the Rotary Retirement Home in Eagle Grove. In 1985, she entered Bethany Manor in Stor City. A long-time member of Our Savior's Lutheran church, she was active in many church activities. In addition, she had a strong interest in school and sports activities and encourged her children to participate. As a student at Lake Mills high school she was a member of the girls basketball team. This interest continued as she followed the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
