She departed from this life on December 20, 1944, at the age of 64 years, 10 months, and 8 days. When she was eight years old, she moved with her parents to Maquoketa, Iowa, crossing the Mississippi river ice on a bobsled. At the age of 16, she was confirmed a member of the Lutheran Church.... KAESTNER Lamoni Lady Passes At Age of 64 Years; Very Active In Community Affairs" Clara Marie Kaestner, daughter of John and Ida Zirkelbach was born at Warren, Illinois, on February 12, 1880. She departed from this life on December 20, 1944, at the age of 64 years, 10 months, and 8 days. When she was eight years old, she moved with her parents to Maquoketa, Iowa, crossing the Mississippi river ice on a bobsled. At the age of 16, she was confirmed a member of the Lutheran Church. When she was 18, she was baptized and confirmed a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At the age of 22, she was united in marriage to Frank Kaestner of Burlington, Iowa. The ceremony took place at the parsonage of Elder J. S. Roth of Grinnell, Iowa. They made their home on a farm near Burlington, Iowa, for four years and then moved to the vicinity of Lamoni and lived there the remainder of her life. To this union five children were born—Mrs. Cleda Gilliland, Almon and Reuben of Lamoni, Mrs. Lura Driskill of Blythedale, Missouri, and Siegle of Corning, Iowa. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her passing the five children; four brothers, Albert, Will, George, and Edward of Maquoketa, Iowa, and eleven grandchildren. Her cheerful character and consideration for others made her a friend of all who knew her. She was a devoted church worker and was interested in seeing all with whom she came in contact living better Christian lives. She was very active and helpful in community activities. Her life was an influence for good to all those included in her associations.
