Description	:	Clara May Porter Shawler, daughter of William and Annie Genismore Porter, was born 10 June 1874 in Warren County, Illinois and passed away 12 February 1964 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 2 days. Read More	Clara May Porter Shawler, daughter of William and Annie Genismore Porter, was born 10 June 1874 in Warren County, Illinois and passed away 12 February 1964 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 2 days. At an early age she came with the family to Iowa and settled in the vicinity of the Four County Corner north of Clearfield. On 8 January 1901, she was united in marriage to Milton W. Shawler. To this union were born six children: Glenn and Gail of Denver, Colorado; Beryl of Des Moines; Bert of Lenox; Reva (Mrs. Raymond) Ripperger of Afton and Donald of Kent. They farmed around Clearfield with the exception of a short time in Oklahoma until 1940 when they retired and moved into Clearfield. For the past four years she had lived at the Boyd Nursing Home in Afton. She was preceded in death by her husband on 8 November 1957. Those surviving are the five sons and one daughter, 16 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Eva Grimslely of Blackwell, Oklahoma, one brother-in-law, Lowell Shawler of Clearfield, two sisters-in-law, Minnie Woods of Clearfiled, Sallie Shawler of Lenox, other relatives and many friends. She was a member of the Methodist Church and of Greenwood Ladies. Services were held at the Clearfield Methodist Church Saturday, 15 February with Reverend Herbert Phillips officiating. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery.
